Combat Sports

Combat sports are a category of athletic competitions where two individuals engage in physical contests using specific techniques with the objective of defeating their opponent. These sports include a variety of disciplines such as boxing, mixed martial arts (MMA), wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo, and kickboxing, among others. Combat sports often emphasize techniques such as striking, grappling, and submissions, and they are governed by a set of rules that dictate permissible actions and outline the scoring system. Participants may compete in amateur or professional levels and often train rigorously to hone their skills and physical conditioning. Combat sports can also be classified based on the use of protective gear, the areas of the body that can be targeted, and the engagement style, whether standing or on the ground. They are practiced both for competition and recreational purposes, as well as for self-defense training and physical fitness.
