Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, using a spherical ball. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, but they can also use other parts of their bodies except their arms and hands; only the goalkeepers are permitted to handle the ball within their penalty area.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport has a rich history and is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes major competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, celebrated for its simplicity, requiring minimal equipment and facilities, which allows it to be played in diverse environments. The game has various formats and variations, but the fundamental principles remain consistent across them. Football fosters teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness and is both a recreational activity and a professional sport enjoyed by millions globally.
